Insight
Practice: Breaking Big Things Into Small
At
the core of The MasterList is the ability to
break complex agendas into a series of smaller do-able
tasks.
The
MasterList innovation in this regard is de-bundling
the threads that define the elements of the overall
task and acting on them separately as tasks more do-able
in the instant. Our case centric, project centric
orientation allows you to size up any task and break
it into a related sequence of task packets, each with
its own deadline, user assignment, and description.
The net result is that when all the threads are separately
executed, whether individually or by a team, there
is complete follow through to completion, with every
facet of the assignment having been woven together.
Breaking
big projects into smaller instant tasks has the advantage
of allowing close inspection of the work. This provides
a basis for new insights to be included in the plan
which in turn improves the chances for a successful
outcome. Indeed, the insights provided may not only
change the character, but the direction of the case.
The
MasterList supports the practice of insight. This
works especially well where the practitioner accepts
the uniqueness and complexity of the legal environment
in which any particular litigation or transaction
exists and makes a decision to search for, communicate,
and act on insight.
By
isolating options for insight, The MasterList elevates
your brain above the chaos of possibilities to engage
in what it is best at: running a connective plan of
action based on a select presentation of competing
priorities, deciding what direction you want to go
in, and then seizing action, leaving it to The MasterList
to de-bundle and track those elements woven into the
plan that are not necessary to be carried out in the
moment.
I
have come to learn through my own use and that of
our customers that what The MasterList is really all
about, as much as tracking action and idea agendas
using a networked database, is providing a software
format for insight practice for the professional.
In the final analysis, The MasterList is not simply
a case management program, it is a tool for the recognition
and deployment of insight.
